Step 1 - Find Settings: Click on the three dots in the top right of your Chrome window and go to ‘Settings’

Step 2 - Privacy and Security: Find ‘Privacy and Security’ and click on it

Step 3 - Site Settings: Next, go to ‘Site Settings’

Step 4 - Find Handlers: First, click Additional permissions


Then choose Protocol handlers

Step 5 -Check if Gmail is blocked


If Gmail is Not allowed, then click the X to remove Gmail from your list of not allowed handlers

This will allow Gmail to ask for permissions

Step 6 - Allow Gmail
Go to your email inbox and reload the page. You should see a double-diamond icon in Gmail now. Click it and Allow gmail to open links.

Step 7 - Set Gmail as Default

Even if Gmail is "allowed" it won't open links until it is the default. Go back to settings and click Set as default.

Step 8 - Open up email links in Gmail: Now go back to the website you were having issues opening up email links from (Veracross. Teacher Portal etc) and refresh it before trying again. It should now work.
